every Friday, Saturday & Sunday, and sometimes on the Bank Holidays too. We have a permanent stall, this means we are gauranteed to be at the market fom Friday to Sunday without fail, always in the same location. Youll find us located straight down the center of the market, we have a corner stall and its pretty hard to miss, look out for the large "Sophia & Matt" sign above our stall.
its pretty good if you want to swing by and grab some lunch, theres a nice selection of hot food on, and its good food, some of the markets weve traded at have some "pretty rough" food on offer, Greenwich has the best food youll find in any market in England. Youll also find plenty of fresh produce on Wednesdays too. The food traders are at the market every day the market is open.
but it leans heavily toward antique traders, you will find a good selection of craft on Thursdays but most craft traders spend the week making stock and running their business and so usually only find time to be able to do Fridays onward.
but the balance is shifted towards craft traders, we like Fridays at Greenwich, its kind of like a mini weekend market, new traders have to do a couple of Fridays before they are allowed to get a stall at the weekend which means that quite often youll find someone new doing something different and thats always good to see.
the stalls at the weekend are very limited, the managers set a very high standard with regard to getting a weekend stall. Theres some very fine small companies there at the weekend, stalls run by people who are genuinely creative and talented. I think a lot people underestimate a market stall business, and perhaps value it less than a "proper" shop, but what youll find with many of the market stalls at Greenwich is that they are run by people that may not have natural business ability or financial backing, people that cant or dont want to mass produce their products, instead they are surviving on raw talent and creativity, making their products by hand in small batches. Its a rare opportunity to meet both the designer and business owner. Perhaps products are a little more expensive than you would find in a shop, and with good reason, although thats not always the case, Id rather own something beautiful and unique, produced in London, purchased straight from the designer or eat something cooked by someone that really cares about the food that they produce instead of the average stuff youll find in some of the large high street chains.
are a weird mix between Fridays and the Weekend, they are very busy and youll find many of the weekend traders there. Sometimes we do the Bank Holidays, and sometimes we dont, well always post here when we know if were definitely going to be there.
